„La Mandragora“ is a classic XIX. century model: an original „Verdine“, as sometimes still used nowadays by the nomadic people like the „gitans“ in southern France and especially in Provence. Just remember Van Goghs masterpiece „Les Roulottes“, painted near Arles.

In the mysterious and fantastical world of the travelling folk, these verdines had certain mystical powers.

Certain taboos were not to be broken, if women gave birth, or if somebody died inside the waggon, it was considered tainted, as it was now inhabitated by spirits. This is the reason why many of the waggons were set on fire, to free the spirits of their earthly bounds.

Very colourful and often elaborately painted, the verdines were full of devotional objects, pictures of saints, rosaries and other curiosities, such as talismans, amulets and more.

It is a world full of kitsch, but it has a certain splendour, great sensuality and a kind of magic. Usually the verdines were home to whole families with up to five or six children, everyday life, bathing and of course cooking took place outside.

We named this waggon La Mandragora, after a poisonous plant used for medical purposes since the renaissance,  but especially by the gipsy women, the „gitanes“, as a special ingredient for love potions.

„La Mandragora“ is suited for maximum two persons. The wooden waggon, isolated with ecological materials and all its furniture is completely handcrafted. It is 8 meters long and features a double bed on top of a chest of drawers, a very typical kind of bed often found in verdines and offering a lot of stowage room.

The antique furniture, art deco leather armchairs, paintings and other objects of art and curiosities along with the fine luxurius BASSETTI bed linen accentuate the very original and laid-back character of „La Mandragora“. From the roofed and furnitured terrace you can view the lake and the park.

The waggon features a kitchenette with a Nespresso coffeemaker, waterkettle and a minifridge as well as a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink.

This waggon was named after „La Cantarella“, an infamous poisonous mixture well known for the role it played in the renaissance, when the Borgia family used it extensively to get rid of their enemies. But the secret mixture of arsenic and toad's saliva eventually also killed pope Alexander VI., after he himself had used it to eliminate countless political opponents. A certain fashion made La Cantarella the poison of choice even at the court of Louis XIV, when the Marquise de Brinvilliers needed to dispose of bothersome relatives and other irritating contemporaries.

„La Bohème“ is a very romantic tiny studio treehouse, with a huge old window inviting you to enjoy the view on the surrounding park.

The soft colours of the fine bed linen and the carefully chosen printed french fabric of the pillows, curtains and blankets as well as the comfortable matress truly make this a very special, dreamy and magical place.

High above ground like a birds nest, La Bohème offers one of the most beautiful views on the park, the lake and the mountains.

Just like in the legendary house „Bateau Lavoir“ in Paris, home and workplace to Matisse, Gaugin, Picasso, Apollinaire and many other artists of that era, the showers and toilets are shared but only 20 steps away in the main building.

„La Bohème“ is suited for maximum two persons, though the double bed is a little bit more ample than standard size. The wooden treehouse is 5 meters long, isolated with ecological materials and is completely handcrafted.

The antique furniture, the comfortable armchair, books, paintings and other objects of art and curiosities along with the fine luxurius BASSETTI bed linen accentuate the very tender, dreamy and romantic character of La Bohème. „La Manouche“ is a classic XIX. century model: a very original and except for the electricity not at all modernized, short „Verdine“, as sometimes still used nowadays by the nomadic people like the „gitans“ in southern France and especially in Provence.

„Manouche“ is the affectionate name the french gipsies call their own people.

„La Manouche“ is suited for maximum two persons. The wooden waggon, isolated with ecological materials, is completely handcrafted. It is 5 meters long and features a double bed on top of a chest of drawers, a very typical kind of bed often found in verdines and offering a lot of stowage room.

The antique furniture, art deco leather armchairs, paintings and other objects of art and curiosities along with the fine luxurius BASSETTI bed linen accentuate the very positive, uncomplicated and sympathetic character of La Manouche. The roofed and furnitured terrace is ample and provided enough space fort he whole family.

Please note, that cooking is not permitted in La Manouche, we kindly ask you to respect that.
